Rohnert Park’s 2025 Water Quality Report: Safe Today, Planning for Tomorrow
The City of Rohnert Park recently released its 2025 Annual Water Quality Report, and the good news is clear: our drinking water continues to meet or exceed all state and federal drinking water standards. Thousands of water quality tests are conducted each year to ensure our water remains safe for homes, schools, and businesses. (Rohnert Park Official Website)
The report explains that Rohnert Park’s water comes from a combination of local groundwater wells and treated surface water supplied by Sonoma Water. Both sources are continuously monitored and tested for a wide range of contaminants, including bacteria, minerals, metals, and other substances regulated by state and federal agencies. The testing found that all detected contaminants remained below the legal limits established to protect public health. (Rohnert Park Official Website)
While it’s reassuring to know our water is safe today, the report also serves as a reminder that maintaining a reliable water system requires ongoing investment. Delivering clean drinking water isn’t just about treatment—it’s about maintaining wells, storage tanks, pipelines, pumps, and other critical infrastructure that many of us never think about until something goes wrong.
As our community continues to grow, these investments become even more important. Aging infrastructure, increasing operating costs, and stricter environmental regulations all place additional demands on our water system. That’s why long-term planning and responsible financial management are essential.
This conversation is especially relevant following the City’s recent water rate adjustments. While no one welcomes higher utility bills, residents deserve clear communication about why investments are needed, how ratepayer dollars are being spent, and what projects are being prioritized. Transparency builds trust, and trust is critical when asking the community to support significant infrastructure investments.
As I continue my campaign for Rohnert Park City Council, I believe we can do both: protect the quality and reliability of our essential services while ensuring every public dollar is spent wisely and communicated openly. Clean, safe drinking water is something we all depend on, and maintaining that standard requires thoughtful planning, fiscal responsibility, and accountability.
